CJ Dropshipping Review 2026: Fees, Shipping and Pros & Cons
CJ Dropshipping review for 2026: plan prices, warehouse fees, real shipping times, US duties, and pros and cons, plus when a local supplier is the better fit.

CJdropshipping is a China-based sourcing and fulfillment company that lists products, buys them from factories, packs them and ships them to your customers under your store's name. In this CJ Dropshipping review, the short version is: it's legitimate, it's free to start, and its fees are lower than most people expect, but delivery speed depends almost entirely on whether your product sits in a local warehouse or ships from China.
Below you'll find what CJ actually charges (with numbers from its own fee pages, checked on 22 October 2026), realistic shipping times by route, a worked landed-cost example, pros and cons, and the situations where a different supplier model makes more sense.
CJ Dropshipping review at a glance

| Monthly cost | $0 to start. Optional plans: Plus $15.99, Prime $19.99, Advanced $59.99 per month. |
| What you pay per order | Product cost + shipping, plus warehouse fees if you stock inventory overseas. |

| Shipping from a local warehouse | CJ's Shopify listing quotes a "general delivery time of 2-3 days" for local warehouse orders. |
| Shopify App Store rating | 4.9 stars from 2,903 reviews (checked 22 October 2026). |
| Best for | Testing products cheaply, custom packaging, and sellers ready to pre-stock winners in US/EU warehouses. |
What is CJ Dropshipping and how does it work?
Think of CJ as a sourcing agent with a catalog attached. You can import products it already lists, or post a sourcing request for something you found on TikTok, 1688 or AliExpress, and CJ's team quotes a price from one of its partner factories. When an order lands in your store, it syncs to CJ, you pay for it from your CJ balance or card, and CJ handles picking, packing and the tracking number.
Two things set it apart from a plain marketplace like AliExpress. First, CJ buys and inspects the goods itself, so you're dealing with one company rather than hundreds of separate sellers. Second, it runs its own warehouses. Its service fee page names facilities in China, the US, Poland, Germany and the UK, and CJ's marketing claims 50+ warehouses worldwide (that's a self-reported figure).
The day-to-day flow looks like this:
- Find or source a product. Search the catalog, or submit a sourcing request with a link and target price. Free accounts get 5 sourcing requests a day.
- List it in your store. Connect Shopify, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop, eBay or another channel, then push the product with your own title, images and price.
- Map variants and pick a shipping method. This is where delivery speed is decided: a China-warehouse SKU on CJPacket behaves very differently from the same SKU stocked in New Jersey or California.
- Pay for orders. Orders sync into your CJ dashboard. You pay product plus shipping, then CJ processes and ships.
- Tracking syncs back. The tracking number flows to your store so the customer gets the shipping email.

CJ Dropshipping fees and pricing in 2026
"Free" is accurate for signing up, listing products and connecting stores. It isn't the whole bill. Here's every layer you can be charged, from the cheapest to the ones that catch people out.
Membership plans
CJ's plan page lists four tiers. None of them are required to fulfill orders. The paid plans mostly add sourcing capacity, coupons and "VIP" product access.
| Plan | Price per month | Daily sourcing requests | Extras listed by CJ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0.00 | 5 | Unlimited listing, unlimited store authorization, order monitoring, 24/7 support, quality inspection |
| Plus | $15.99 | 5 + 10 extra | Two "$3 off $10" coupons, 5 VIP products, 50% off courses under $10 |
| Prime | $19.99 | 5 + 20 extra | Five coupons, 10 VIP products, 15 recommended products |
| Advanced | $59.99 | 5 + 50 extra | Ten coupons, 20 VIP products, 25 recommended products |
A quick sanity check before upgrading: the Plus plan's two coupons are worth $6 a month at most, so you'd only pay $15.99 if you genuinely need more than five sourcing requests a day.

Per-order costs
On every order you pay the product price and the shipping method you chose. CJ's product prices already include its margin, which is how it makes money on free accounts. Shipping is quoted per SKU and destination in the dashboard's shipping calculator, so always compare two or three methods before you set a retail price.
Warehouse and fulfillment fees
These only apply once you move inventory into CJ's warehouses (which is how you get fast delivery). From CJ's published fee table:
- Free storage window: 0 to 30 days is free in every warehouse. China and US warehouses stay free through day 60, and China through day 90.
- US storage after day 60: $0.63 per cubic meter per day from day 60 to 120, rising to $1.26 from day 120 and $1.89 from day 180.
- Outbound fee per order: $0.50 in the US and $0.30 in China for parcels up to 1 kg.
- Inbound inspection: free in China, the US and Poland. Germany and the UK charge $2.20 per new SKU.
- Minimum to stock overseas: 10 pieces per variant and 100 pieces in total.
- Peak season: from 1 October to 31 December, US storage carries an extra $0.21 per cubic meter per day.
- Moving stock from China to the US: CJ's reference rate is $12.13/kg by air (10 to 15 days) or $4.04/kg by sea (25 to 30 days).

Worked example: what a "free" CJ product really costs
Say you sell a phone stand. Your test numbers from the CJ calculator are $4.80 for the product and $5.40 for CJPacket to the US. That's $10.20 before payment processing. At a $24.99 retail price you have about $14.79 left for ads, fees and profit.
Now the product takes off and you move 300 units (0.4 cubic meters, 30 kg) to a US warehouse by air:
- Air freight: 30 kg x $12.13 = $363.90, or about $1.21 per unit.
- Storage: the first 60 days are free. If the last units sit until day 80, that's 20 days x $0.63 x 0.4 = $5.04 (plus the $0.21 peak surcharge if those days fall in Q4).
- Outbound: $0.50 per order.
Your per-unit cost becomes roughly $4.80 + $1.21 + $0.50 + a few cents of storage + domestic last-mile postage. The upside is a 2-to-5-day delivery promise instead of two weeks. Run your own figures through a profit margin calculator before committing to a bulk shipment, and remember the 100-piece minimum.
CJ Dropshipping shipping times by route
Shipping time is the single biggest variable in any CJ Dropshipping review, and the honest answer is "it depends on where the item ships from".
| Route | What to plan for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CJPacket from China to the US | About 7 to 15 days, sometimes longer | Tracking sites such as Parcelsapp list figures from 7-12 days up to 15-25 days. Treat ranges as estimates. |
| CJPacket to Western Europe | About 7 to 18 days | Varies by country; Germany and France tend to be quicker than Spain or Scandinavia. |
| CJ US warehouse to US customer | 2 to 5 business days | CJ's Shopify listing says 2-3 days for local warehouse delivery. Only applies to SKUs in stock there. |
| Express (DHL, UPS and similar) | Fastest from China | Priced per kg, so it rarely works for products under $30. |
A common mistake: a seller lists a product that shows a US warehouse badge, but only some variants are stocked there. The black one ships in three days; the blue one ships from Yiwu in twelve. Check stock per variant, not per product. Our guide to CJ Dropshipping's USA warehouses covers how to filter for them.
Duties on China-shipped parcels
If you sell to US customers, there's a 2026 cost most older reviews miss. US Customs and Border Protection ended duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value shipments from all countries on 29 August 2025 (CBP notice), and the suspension was continued in 2026 (Federal Register). Parcels that ship one by one from China can now carry duties that used to be zero. Ask CJ whether a shipping method is duty-paid (DDP) and include that in your cost. Stock shipped in bulk to a US warehouse is cleared once, which is one reason more sellers pre-stock winners.
Pros and cons of CJ Dropshipping
What CJ does well
- No monthly fee to start. You can test ten products for the cost of the products.
- Sourcing requests. Paste a link to a product you found elsewhere and CJ quotes it, which plain marketplaces don't do.
- Branding options. Custom packaging, inserts, logo printing and print-on-demand are all available, though each has its own minimums and costs.
- Inspection and consolidation. CJ checks goods in its warehouse, so you're less exposed to one bad marketplace seller.
- Its own warehouse network. Once a product proves itself, you can move stock closer to customers without switching suppliers.
- Strong Shopify App Store score. 4.9 stars from 2,903 reviews when we checked.
Where CJ falls short
- Default shipping is slow for US/EU buyers. Unless you pre-stock, most orders travel from China.
- Fee tables take work. Storage tiers, peak surcharges, label fees and per-SKU inspection in some countries add up, and they differ by warehouse.
- Pre-stocking needs cash. The 10-per-variant and 100-unit minimums mean you're buying inventory, which is no longer pure dropshipping.
- Returns are awkward. Items from China are rarely worth sending back, so most sellers refund or resend instead.
- The dashboard is busy. New users often pick the wrong shipping method or warehouse on their first orders.
Is CJ Dropshipping legit and safe to use?
Yes, CJ is a legitimate business that has fulfilled orders for Shopify sellers for years, and its Shopify listing has thousands of reviews. "Legit" doesn't mean "problem-free", though. Your risks are the usual ones for China-sourced dropshipping: delays during Chinese holidays and Q4, variants that differ slightly from photos, and duties on single parcels. We cover review patterns, red flags and dispute handling in detail in Is CJ Dropshipping legit?, so this review sticks to costs and logistics.
Practical safeguards cost little:
- Order a sample of every product to your own address and time it from payment to doorstep.
- Photograph the sample next to the listing images before you write ad copy.
- Keep your store's delivery promise one or two days longer than CJ's estimate.
- File disputes inside CJ's ticket system with photos or video, not through your card provider first.
CJ Dropshipping vs AliExpress vs Spocket
These three get compared constantly because they solve the same problem in different ways. Here's a fair side-by-side.
| CJ Dropshipping | AliExpress | Spocket | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model | Sourcing agent + own warehouses | Open marketplace of many sellers | Marketplace of vetted suppliers, many based in the US and EU |
| Monthly fee | $0 (optional plans from $15.99) | $0 (you need an import app) | Plans start at $39.99/month, 7-day trial |
| Typical ship-from | China, unless you pre-stock | China, some local warehouses | Supplier's own country |
| Sourcing requests | Yes | No | No |
| Inventory commitment for fast shipping | Yes (10 per variant, 100 total) | No | No |
| Branding | Custom packaging, POD, inserts | Seller-dependent | Branded invoicing |

Who should use CJ Dropshipping (and who shouldn't)
CJ is a good fit if you want to test many products with almost no fixed cost, you've found a product you can't get elsewhere and need it sourced, or you sell in volume and are ready to fund a warehouse shipment to cut delivery times.
Look elsewhere if your brand promise depends on fast delivery from day one and you don't want to buy inventory up front, or you sell in categories (cosmetics, kids' products, electronics) where you want a supplier's local compliance paperwork on file.
Where Spocket fits
Spocket takes the other route to fast delivery. Instead of shipping your inventory to a warehouse, you import products from suppliers who already hold stock in their own countries, many in the US and Europe, so there's no bulk purchase or minimum. You set your own retail price, orders are fulfilled through the app, and you can add branded invoices. Spocket also has an integration page for CJdropshipping products if you want to keep some CJ items alongside local suppliers.

Many stores end up with both: CJ for low-cost test products and custom packaging, and local suppliers for the items where delivery speed drives repeat orders. You can browse trending products from US and EU suppliers to see whether your niche is covered, or start a 7-day Spocket trial and compare listing costs side by side.
How to start with CJ Dropshipping on Shopify
- Create a CJ account on cjdropshipping.com and verify your email.
- Install the CJ app from the Shopify App Store and authorize your store from CJ's store authorization settings.
- Add products from the catalog, or send a sourcing request for a product link.
- Order samples of your top two or three picks to your own address. Note the processing time and the delivery time separately.
- Set shipping in Shopify so your delivery promise matches the method you'll actually use.
- Fund your balance or add a card, then process orders daily. Unpaid orders don't ship.
- Review weekly: refund rate, average delivery days and landed cost per SKU. Move proven winners to a local warehouse or a local supplier.

Final verdict
CJ Dropshipping earns its reputation as a cheap, flexible place to source and test products, with real extras like sourcing requests, inspection and custom packaging. Its weak spot is the same as every China-first supplier: unless you buy stock and send it to a local warehouse, US and EU customers wait one to two weeks, and duties on single parcels now add to the cost. Use the fee tables above to price honestly, time a sample order, and decide product by product whether CJ, a local supplier or both is the right call.

CJ Dropshipping Review FAQs
Is CJ Dropshipping free to use?
Signing up, listing products and connecting stores costs nothing, and the Free plan includes 5 sourcing requests a day. You still pay for every product and its shipping when an order comes in. Paid plans (Plus $15.99, Prime $19.99, Advanced $59.99 a month) add extra sourcing requests, coupons and VIP products, but none of them are required to fulfill orders.
How long does CJ Dropshipping take to ship to the US?
Orders shipped from China with CJPacket usually take around 7 to 15 days to reach US customers, and longer during Chinese holidays and Q4. Products stocked in a CJ US warehouse are much faster; CJ's Shopify listing quotes a general delivery time of 2 to 3 days for local warehouse orders. Always check which warehouse each variant ships from.
Is CJ Dropshipping better than AliExpress?
For many sellers, yes, because CJ is one company that buys, inspects and ships the goods, while AliExpress is a marketplace of separate sellers with varying standards. CJ also takes sourcing requests and offers custom packaging. AliExpress has a bigger catalog and needs no account setup beyond an import app. Delivery from China is similar on both unless you pre-stock with CJ.
Does CJ Dropshipping work with Shopify?
Yes. CJ has a Shopify app (listed as "CJdropshipping: Much Faster") with a 4.9-star rating from 2,903 reviews when we checked in October 2026. Once you authorize your store, you can push products, orders sync to your CJ dashboard for payment, and tracking numbers flow back to Shopify. CJ also connects to WooCommerce, eBay, TikTok Shop and other channels.
What does it cost to store products in CJ's US warehouse?
CJ's published fee table makes the first 60 days of US storage free, then charges $0.63 per cubic meter per day from day 60 to 120, with higher rates after that and a Q4 peak surcharge. Outbound handling is $0.50 per order up to 1 kg. You also need at least 10 pieces per variant and 100 pieces in total to send stock overseas.
Do US customers pay import duties on CJ orders?
They can. US duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value parcels was suspended for all countries from 29 August 2025, so single parcels shipped from China may now carry duties. Ask CJ whether a shipping method is duty-paid (DDP) and price that cost into your product. Stock moved in bulk to a US warehouse clears customs once, before individual orders ship.
Can I brand my packaging with CJ Dropshipping?
Yes. CJ offers custom packaging, branded inserts, logo printing and print-on-demand, which is one of its main advantages over open marketplaces. Each option has its own minimum order and cost, so request a quote before you promise branded unboxing to customers. If branded invoices are all you need, many supplier apps, including Spocket, handle that without a minimum.
